SUMMARY:EUPOC 2024 : Polymer Brushes
DESCRIPTION:The European Polymer Federation (EPF) in collaboration with Italian Association of Macromolecular Science and Technology (AIM) is honored and pleased to announce the organization of EUropean POlymer Conference on “Polymer Brushes” (EUPOC 2024) to be held Bertinoro (Italy)\, May 26-30\, 2024. \nThe development of surfaces with well-engineered properties is a significant challenge for chemists and physicists. In this context\, polymer brushes\, which consist of thin organic layers of polymers tethered by one end to a substrate\, represent an extremely versatile tool in surface engineering. With great progress in living/controlled\, or even precision\, polymerization methods\, organic reactions\, and supramolecular strategies\, excellent control over the composition\, architecture\, and length of tethered polymer chains can be achieved leading to  an unprecedented variety of polymer brush structures. \nControl of wetting properties\, tuning of interaction with biological media\, colloidal stabilization\, and resistance to fouling are examples of successful application of polymer brushes. In addition\, surfaces\, and interfaces responsive to the surrounding environment are essential in the design of devices\, from electronics to medicine. \nEUPOC 2024 will offer a platform to discuss the main challenges facing this important research field\, bringing together worldwide scientists and students working on different aspects of polymer brushes. \n The conference will be based on plenary lectures\, oral communications\, and poster presentations. DESCRIPTION:Continuing earlier POLY-CHAR conferences in Nepal (2019)\, Venice (online 2021)\, Halle-Siegen (online 2022)\, and Auckland (2023)\, the year 2024 brings us a new opportunity to meet and share our science together in Madrid.\nPOLY-CHAR 2024 Madrid follows the structure of earlier conferences and will include a one-day pre-conference workshop and four days of scientific sessions\, including a city tour and other social events. Students can join the pre-conference workshop and are also encouraged to participate in special sessions scheduled for young scientists.\nThe Madrid Edition will highlight “Polymers for our future” to stimulate discussions on polymeric materials that can provide answers to urgent societal demands\, including sustainability\, recyclability\, energy storage & generation\, biomaterials\, nanomaterials\, etc. Thus\, a broad opportunity exists to communicate your innovations and ideas at POLY-CHAR 2024. \nWe will be very happy to receive your contributions and are looking forward to meeting you all in our home city!
