BIC abaisse ses prévisions 2025, plombé par le marché américain
Le groupe français Bic revoit à la baisse ses prévisions pour l’année 2025 en raison d’un contexte économique défavorable aux États-Unis et des incertitudes sur les droits de douane. Son chiffre d’affaires trimestriel a chuté de 8,3 %, particulièrement affecté par un recul de 12,5 % en Amérique du Nord, marché représentant 35 % de ses ventes. Malgré tout, Bic maintient son objectif de trésorerie disponible supérieure à 240 millions d’euros.
L’Usine Nouvelle L’APR lance une initiative pour renforcer la sensibilisation au recyclage des plastiques aux États-Unis
L’Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) annonce le lancement de son initiative « Recycling in Action », visant à sensibiliser le public américain sur les bénéfices économiques et environnementaux du recyclage des plastiques. Pendant tout le mois de mai, plus de 30 centres de tri et de recyclage à travers 20 États ouvriront leurs portes pour des visites et sessions d’information. L’objectif est de mieux informer sur le tri, réduire les erreurs de recyclage et démontrer l’importance de politiques fortes pour doubler le taux de recyclage national.
Un nouveau polymère auto-cicatrisant capable de guérir après un impact balistique
Des chercheurs de l’Université Texas A&M ont développé un polymère unique capable de se réparer lui-même après avoir été transpercé par un projectile. Ce matériau innovant, baptisé DAP (Diels-Adler Polymer), absorbe l’énergie cinétique d’un impact en se liquéfiant temporairement avant de revenir rapidement à son état solide initial en se refroidissant, réduisant considérablement la taille du trou laissé par le projectile. Ce phénomène, inédit à toute échelle, pourrait révolutionner les matériaux protecteurs destinés aux véhicules spatiaux et aux armures militaires, ouvrant la voie à une nouvelle génération de polymères adaptatifs ultra-résistants.
Une coalition industrielle US s’attaque à la recyclabilité des emballages PET et PE
Un nouveau groupe de travail réunissant des acteurs majeurs du recyclage et de l’emballage vient d’être lancé afin d’améliorer concrètement la recyclabilité des tubes souples en polyéthylène (PE) et des contenants thermoformés en polyéthylène téréphtalate (PET). Cette initiative, baptisée Packaging Recyclability Advancement Task Force, rassemble notamment GreenBlue, le US Plastics Pact, The Recycling Partnership, ReMA, SWANA et APR. Son objectif est de dépasser les simples enjeux de conception pour résoudre les barrières réelles du recyclage, telles que la collecte inégale, le tri insuffisant et les faibles débouchés commerciaux. Des directives concrètes seront établies afin d’aider les marques à atteindre des objectifs de recyclabilité plus élevés, en se basant sur des référentiels comme How2Recycle et Pathway to Circularity.

Une seule capsule intelligente pour remplacer plusieurs pilules quotidiennes
Des ingénieurs de l’Université de Californie à San Diego ont développé une capsule capable de libérer plusieurs médicaments à des moments précis de la journée, simplifiant ainsi considérablement les traitements complexes. Chaque compartiment interne est isolé par des barrières polymères sensibles au pH, permettant un dosage programmé et précis. Cette technologie innovante pourrait améliorer considérablement l’adhésion thérapeutique des patients et éviter les oublis ou les surdosages, avec des applications prometteuses dans des maladies chroniques telles que Parkinson ou les pathologies cardiovasculaires.
Chitosan, compostables et défis de recyclabilité dynamisent les emballages en avril
En avril, le secteur des emballages a été marqué par des avancées notables : amélioration des films à base de chitosane offrant protection UV et meilleure stabilité thermique, lancements réussis de snacks thématiques Butterbeer inspirés de Harry Potter, et récompenses majeures pour les emballages compostables lors du concours FPA. Des progrès significatifs ont été réalisés avec les films BOPLA biodégradables de NatureWorks et les nouveaux produits durables d’Amcor. Cependant, l’industrie reste préoccupée par les défis réels liés à la recyclabilité, alors que l’échéance 2025 pour des emballages 100 % recyclables approche à grands pas.
