Recyc’Elit ouvre la voie au recyclage chimique des textiles complexes
Créée en 2019 près de Lyon, la start-up Recyc’Elit a développé une technologie brevetée de dépolymérisation sélective destinée aux textiles « complexes », jusqu’ici sans filière de recyclage. Fonctionnant à pression atmosphérique et à température modérée, ce procédé innovant se distingue par sa sobriété énergétique et son potentiel industriel. Déjà partenaire de grands acteurs comme Decathlon, l’entreprise prépare son passage à l’échelle pilote puis industrielle d’ici 2028. Avec une équipe d’une douzaine de personnes, elle recrute activement pour accompagner sa montée en puissance et affirme son ambition de transformer la filière textile vers une économie circulaire durable.
Techniques de l’Ingénieur Un capteur vivant fluorescent pour détecter rapidement les microplastiques
Des chercheurs publient dans ACS Sensors un biosenseur basé sur une souche non pathogène de Pseudomonas aeruginosa, modifiée pour produire une protéine fluorescente verte au contact du plastique. Ce système se fixe sur divers polymères (PET, PS, polyacrylamide, PCL, etc.) et génère un signal mesurable en moins de trois heures. Testé sur des échantillons réels d’eau de mer, il a détecté jusqu’à 100 ppm de microplastiques, offrant une méthode rapide, peu coûteuse et sensible par rapport aux approches classiques (IR, Raman). Stable plusieurs jours à 4 °C, ce capteur vivant pourrait faciliter la surveillance environnementale à grande échelle et cibler plus efficacement les zones de pollution plastique.

Les microplastiques menacent les habitats marins du golfe du Mexique
Une étude publiée dans npj Ocean Sustainability révèle, grâce à des modèles numériques avancés, que les rivières constituent la principale source de microplastiques dans le nord du golfe du Mexique, surpassant largement les rejets des stations d’épuration. Les simulations sur trois ans montrent une accumulation préoccupante à l’ouest du delta du Mississippi, zone clé pour tortues marines, dauphins et poissons commerciaux comme le vivaneau rouge. Les comportements des particules varient selon leur densité : les plus lourdes sédimentent, tandis que d’autres persistent en surface malgré l’agitation des vagues. Ce croisement entre cartes de pollution et aires de répartition des espèces met en lumière un risque direct pour la biodiversité et la sécurité alimentaire humaine. Le cadre méthodologique développé pourrait être appliqué à d’autres zones côtières pour cibler les sources de pollution et orienter les politiques de mitigation.
Polymères végétaux auto-réparants et antimicrobiens ouvrent la voie à de nouvelles applications high-tech
Des chercheurs de l’Université technologique de Kaunas (KTU) ont mis au point une nouvelle génération de vitrimères biosourcés aux propriétés remarquablement combinées : origine végétale, polymérisation induite par UV ou lumière visible sans catalyseurs, auto-cicatrisation thermique, mémoire de forme, effet antimicrobien et compatibilité avec l’impression 3D optique. Issus d’huiles végétales et de coproduits du biodiesel, ces matériaux multifonctionnels se distinguent par leur durabilité et leur absence d’additifs toxiques. Testés avec succès pour l’impression de connecteurs médicaux en Y, ils montrent aussi une efficacité contre divers microorganismes, ce qui les rend prometteurs pour la médecine, l’électronique, l’optique ou les capteurs. Ce travail, soutenu par le Conseil de la recherche de Lituanie (projet S-MIP-23-52), marque une avancée rare en réunissant dans un seul matériau des fonctions clés pour des applications industrielles et environnementales durables.
Un hydrogel peptidique pour un relargage prolongé et précis des médicaments
Des chercheurs de l’Université Rice présentent dans Nature Nanotechnology une plateforme innovante de délivrance de médicaments, SABER (self-assembling boronate ester release), basée sur un hydrogel peptidique formant un réseau 3D où les liaisons covalentes dynamiques ralentissent la diffusion des molécules thérapeutiques. Testée avec un antituberculeux, une seule injection surpasse un traitement oral quasi-quotidien. Avec l’insuline, le contrôle glycémique chez la souris passe de 4 h à 6 jours. Biodégradable, adaptable aux petites molécules comme aux biomédicaments (anticorps, hormones), SABER ouvre la voie à une meilleure observance thérapeutique et à des applications de pointe comme l’immunothérapie anticancéreuse, en réduisant effets secondaires et contraintes de stockage.
Les risques chroniques des bouteilles d’eau en plastique sous-estimés
Une revue publiée dans le Journal of Hazardous Materials par Sarah Sajedi (Concordia University) alerte sur les dangers liés à l’usage régulier des bouteilles d’eau en plastique à usage unique. En moyenne, un consommateur de bouteilles ingère jusqu’à 90 000 particules micro- et nanoplastiques de plus par an qu’un buveur d’eau du robinet, soit plusieurs dizaines de milliers au total. Ces particules issues de la fabrication, du stockage et de la dégradation des bouteilles pénètrent l’organisme, franchissent les barrières biologiques et peuvent atteindre le sang et les organes vitaux, induisant inflammation chronique, stress oxydatif, perturbations endocriniennes, atteintes neurologiques et cancers. Pourtant, les effets à long terme restent largement sous-étudiés en raison du manque de méthodes de détection fiables et harmonisées. L’étude souligne l’urgence d’intégrer les bouteilles d’eau jetables dans les politiques de réduction des plastiques et insiste sur l’éducation du public : leur usage ne devrait être envisagé qu’en situation d’urgence, le problème étant moins l’exposition aiguë que la toxicité chronique cumulative.
