Un nouveau polymère dopé pour l’électronique organique mixte
Des chercheurs de l’Institut de chimie appliquée de Changchun ont développé le polymère conjugué PBN-OEG à base de bipyridine pontée B←N, doté de chaînes latérales oligoéthylène glycol. Ce design favorise un dopage n-type efficace et des performances mixtes ioniques-électroniques inédites. PBN-OEG atteint une conductivité de 1,95 S/cm, un facteur de puissance de 4,7 μW/m·K² et une capacitance volumique de 97,7 F/cm³, le rendant prometteur pour les OECTs et OTEs.
Un polymère ferroélectrique sans fluor pour l’électronique portable
Des chercheurs de l’université Case Western Reserve ont mis au point un nouveau polymère ferroélectrique sans fluor, éliminant le recours au PVDF, plastique fluoré non dégradable. Ce matériau souple et à polarisation électrique réversible, obtenue sans cristallisation, présente des propriétés électroniques ajustables. Il se distingue par sa compatibilité mécanique avec le corps humain, ouvrant des perspectives pour les capteurs infrarouges, dispositifs médicaux portables ou lunettes AR/VR, tout en réduisant l’impact environnemental des plastiques électroniques.

Un implant polymère intelligent pour libérer du glucagon en cas d’hypoglycémie
Des chercheurs du MIT ont mis au point un dispositif miniature implantable sous la peau capable de libérer automatiquement du glucagon en cas d’hypoglycémie sévère. Ce polymère 3D contient un réservoir de glucagon sous forme sèche, scellé par un alliage à mémoire de forme qui s’ouvre lorsqu’il est chauffé par induction. L’activation peut être déclenchée manuellement ou automatiquement par un capteur de glucose. Grâce à cette architecture, le polymère protège le principe actif jusqu’à son déploiement, ce qui améliore la stabilité du médicament et permet une réponse rapide, en moins de 10 minutes. Ce concept de polymère fonctionnel programmable ouvre des perspectives inédites pour la délivrance d’autres biomolécules thermosensibles.

Des déchets plastiques transformés en graphite pour batteries
Grâce à un financement du DOE américain, les chercheurs du NETL développent un procédé simple pour convertir les déchets de polyéthylène et de lignine en graphite cristallin de haute pureté. Ce graphite, compatible avec les anodes de batteries lithium-ion, offre une alternative durable aux sources traditionnelles et permet de valoriser les plastiques à usage unique. En s’appuyant sur l’apprentissage automatique, cette approche vise à optimiser la transformation chimique pour sécuriser un approvisionnement national en graphite stratégique.
Un robot anguilliforme en polymère souple pour l’exploration sous-marine délicate
Des chercheurs ont mis au point un robot nageur inspiré de l’anguille, fabriqué à partir d’un polymère électroactif souple de type élastomère diélectrique. Segmenté en modules tubulaires, ce système biomimétique imite les ondulations naturelles de l’animal pour se déplacer en douceur dans des environnements fragiles. Grâce à sa flexibilité et à l’absence de structures rigides, ce polymère permet une interaction non invasive avec les écosystèmes aquatiques, ouvrant la voie à une robotique plus douce pour l’exploration scientifique.
Un alliage de magnésium protégé par un polymère biodégradable en conditions dynamiques simulées
Des chercheurs ont évalué le comportement à la corrosion d’un alliage de magnésium ZK60 recouvert de poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) (PHB) en flux d’électrolyte simulant les conditions physiologiques dynamiques. Deux épaisseurs de revêtement ont été testées : un PHB mince poreux et un PHB épais homogène. Les analyses par EIS, GI-XRD, XPS et SEM montrent que le PHB épais ralentit nettement la dégradation grâce à une faible densité de pores, contrairement au PHB mince qui laisse infiltrer l’électrolyte. Cette stratégie de revêtement polymère permettrait de moduler la biodégradabilité contrôlée des implants temporaires en magnésium.
