Peaux polymères inspirées des céphalopodes pour l’affichage souple et les capteurs autonomes
Des chercheurs de l’Université du Nebraska ont développé des peaux synthétiques biomimétiques imitant les chromatophores des céphalopodes, ces organes pigmentaires musculaires responsables de leur capacité à changer de couleur. Composées de microgels élastomères assemblés en réseaux extensibles, ces structures polymères sont capables de changer de teinte et de motif de manière dynamique sous stimuli mécaniques ou environnementaux, sans apport énergétique externe.
Ces chromatophores synthétiques forment une classe émergente de matériaux dits « autonomes », capables de percevoir et de réagir à leur environnement, ouvrant la voie à des technologies souples pour la robotique douce, les capteurs portables et les interfaces homme-machine. Par programmation chimique, ils peuvent répondre à des paramètres comme la température, l’humidité ou le pH, tout en restant conformables, extensibles et fonctionnels en milieux aqueux. Cette avancée s’inscrit dans la perspective d’un affichage passif sans écran rigide, adaptable et multifonctionnel pour des applications biomédicales, environnementales ou embarquées.

Un plastique supramoléculaire soluble dans l’eau salée pour lutter contre les microplastiques
Des chercheurs du RIKEN au Japon ont mis au point un polymère supramoléculaire inédit capable de se dissoudre rapidement dans l’eau salée. Combinant du sodium hexamétaphosphate et des monomères à base de guanidinium, leur matériau forme des « ponts salins » assurant à la fois solidité mécanique et dégradabilité ciblée. Ces liaisons réversibles confèrent au polymère une grande résistance à sec, mais se rompent sous l’effet des électrolytes de l’eau de mer, permettant sa désintégration complète en moins de 9 heures. Ce plastique se distingue par sa transparence, sa stabilité thermique, sa non-inflammabilité et son aptitude à la recyclabilité moléculaire. En fin de vie, il libère des composés azotés et phosphorés non toxiques, valorisables biologiquement mais devant être maîtrisés pour éviter l’eutrophisation. Cette approche innovante marque une avancée majeure vers des plastiques marins biodégradables à haute performance, avec un potentiel de circularité par dépolymérisation contrôlée.

Des pontons rotomoulés en PE recyclables pour une modularité sans limites
Rotax Marine innove dans les solutions flottantes en proposant une gamme de pontons et plateformes pour jetski rotomoulés en polyéthylène, résistants au milieu salin, fabriqués dans l’Ain. Grâce à une conception monobloc sans collage et à des connecteurs en TPV issus de l’automobile, ces structures offrent robustesse et adaptabilité. Assemblables sur mesure, transportables et garantes d’une durabilité de 8 ans, elles ciblent loisirs, ports, travaux maritimes ou collectivités.
Deux nouvelles résines révolutionnent l’impression 3D SLA couleur et la fonderie de précision
La société Formlabs a dévoilé deux nouvelles résines pour l’impression 3D stéréolithographique (SLA) qui élargissent considérablement les possibilités des polymères photosensibles : la Color Resin V5, offrant une impression directe en couleurs personnalisées, et la True Cast Resin, optimisée pour des applications de microfonderie exigeant une fidélité de reproduction extrême.
La Color Resin V5 permet de spécifier une teinte exacte à partir d’un code RGB ou Hex, supprimant ainsi les étapes de finition traditionnelles comme la peinture ou la teinture. Ce polymère photoréticulable conserve les propriétés mécaniques proches des résines standards, avec une variabilité inférieure à ±15 % selon la teinte. Cela représente une avancée technique pour les prototypes fonctionnels, les repérages visuels ou les pièces esthétiques à usage final imprimées en SLA.
La True Cast Resin est enrichie en cire, avec une formulation visant à réduire l’expansion thermique, le retrait dimensionnel et les résidus de cendres (0,03 %). Sa stabilité chimique et géométrique en fait un polymère idéal pour les procédés de fonderie à cire perdue à haute précision, en particulier dans les domaines de la bijouterie, des composants figuratifs et des microstructures techniques. La photopolymérisation permet de reproduire des motifs complexes avec une grande finesse, tout en conservant une compatibilité avec les protocoles de coulée traditionnels.

Sulzer inaugure un centre technologique dédié aux biopolymères en Suisse
Sulzer renforce sa position dans les polymères durables avec l’ouverture d’un Innovation Technology Hub (InTecH) à Winterthur Töss. Ce centre de 3 150 m² est conçu pour accélérer le développement de biopolymères tels que l’acide polylactique (PLA) et le polycaprolactone (PCL), reconnus pour leur origine biosourcée, leur biodégradabilité et leur faible empreinte carbone. Équipé de lignes de filmage, moulage, extrusion et mousse, le site permet d’optimiser la formulation et la transformation des biopolymères pour des applications spécifiques, de quelques kilogrammes jusqu’à plusieurs tonnes. Ce hub complète le réseau international de Sulzer dédié à l’économie circulaire et à l’innovation polymère.
