Impression 3D biomimétique : produire des polymères complexes en imitant la croissance végétale
Des chercheurs du Beckam Institute (Université de l’Illinois) ont développé une technique révolutionnaire d’impression 3D inspirée de la morphogenèse végétale. Cette méthode utilise une résine liquide (DCPD) polymérisant rapidement par réaction exothermique, imitant ainsi la croissance naturelle des plantes. Cette approche permet de produire des formes complexes (pomme de pin, courge, etc.) avec une efficacité énergétique largement supérieure aux techniques traditionnelles, tout en étant jusqu’à dix fois plus rapide que la stéréolithographie classique. Ce procédé promet une fabrication plus rapide, économique et adaptable à grande échelle pour des applications industrielles exigeantes.
Techniques de l’Ingénieur Recyclage chimique innovant des pneus usagés : vers une nouvelle génération de résines époxy
Des chercheurs de l’Université de Caroline du Nord à Chapel Hill ont mis au point une méthode chimique révolutionnaire pour recycler efficacement les déchets de pneus en caoutchouc. Cette technique, basée sur une réaction d’amination sélective suivie d’un réarrangement du squelette polymère, permet de décomposer le caoutchouc vulcanisé en composés solubles contenant des fonctions amines. Ces dérivés servent ensuite de précurseurs à la synthèse de résines époxy, avec des propriétés mécaniques comparables aux résines commerciales. Plus écologique et efficace que les procédés traditionnels, cette approche ouvre une voie prometteuse pour réduire significativement la quantité de déchets de pneus accumulés dans les décharges.

trinamiX PAL Two : un spectromètre portable innovant pour optimiser l’identification et le recyclage des plastiques
Lors du salon Plastics Recycling Show Europe 2025, trinamiX, filiale de BASF, présentera son nouveau spectromètre portable PAL Two destiné à l’identification rapide de plus de 30 types de plastiques et textiles. Ce dispositif basé sur la spectroscopie proche infrarouge (NIR) permet une opération à une main avec affichage direct des résultats. Capable de distinguer précisément des matériaux difficiles tels que les mélanges PE/PP et les films multicouches, le PAL Two facilite le contrôle qualité et la conception d’emballages recyclables répondant aux nouvelles réglementations européennes sur les déchets plastiques.
Films élastomères intelligents : une révolution technologique pour les textiles interactifs et les surfaces tactiles
Des chercheurs allemands de l’Université de la Sarre et du Centre ZeMA ont mis au point des films élastomères ultrafins capables de générer des mouvements précis sous simple stimulation électrique. Ces polymères électroactifs peuvent vibrer, se déformer ou transmettre des sensations tactiles, ouvrant ainsi la voie à des textiles connectés qui reproduisent des sensations physiques ou des écrans tactiles fournissant un retour haptique réaliste. L’innovation majeure repose sur une couche métallique ultra-mince déposée sur l’élastomère, permettant un contrôle précis même à des fréquences ultrasoniques. Ces matériaux offrent ainsi des perspectives inédites pour des applications légères, économiques et énergétiquement performantes en électronique souple, capteurs intelligents et dispositifs médicaux interactifs.

Transformer les gaz sidérurgiques en propylène : une initiative japonaise innovante pour la chimie des polymères
Les entreprises japonaises JFE Steel, Mitsubishi Gas Chemical et Mitsubishi Chemical s’associent pour démontrer une nouvelle voie de production du propylène à partir des gaz sidérurgiques contenant du CO₂. Dès 2026, un projet pilote sera lancé au complexe industriel de Mizushima, au Japon, où le méthanol, synthétisé à partir des gaz émis lors de la fabrication d’acier, servira à produire du propylène grâce à la technologie DTP développée par Mitsubishi Chemical. Ce procédé, affichant une haute sélectivité en propylène et une faible consommation énergétique, constitue une avancée majeure pour la fabrication durable de plastiques tels que le polypropylène. Cette collaboration intersectorielle vise ainsi à réduire les émissions de gaz à effet de serre en valorisant les émissions industrielles habituellement difficiles à traiter.
