Des polyamides et du PBT de BASF équipent un système de freinage électromécanique de Chery
BASF annonce le 26 octobre l’emploi de ses polyamides Ultramid et de ses polybutylènes téréphtalates Ultradur dans un système de freinage électromécanique développé avec Chery et Orient Motion et déployé sur le modèle EXEED EX7. Les applications comprennent la pédale de frein en plastique, l’unité motoréductrice et l’unité de contrôle. Le dispositif remplace la transmission hydraulique conventionnelle par des actionneurs commandés électroniquement. L’industriel associe le choix des thermoplastiques aux exigences de résistance mécanique, d’isolation électrique et de stabilité dimensionnelle de ces composants automobiles.

France — Le LCPO prépare dans l’eau des nanoparticules fluorescentes de polypeptides
L’actualité publiée par CNRS Chimie le 20 octobre présente des travaux du Laboratoire de chimie des polymères organiques de Bordeaux, parus en juillet, sur la préparation aqueuse de nanoparticules fluorescentes de polypeptides. Le procédé Click’n ROPISA associe, dans un même milieu réactionnel, la formation des chaînes, leur assemblage et la conjugaison de fluorophores, sans purification intermédiaire. Plusieurs couleurs sont obtenues en changeant le marqueur. La caractérisation porte notamment sur la luminosité rapportée au volume des particules à base de cyanine. Le suivi de particules individuelles est réalisé dans l’eau par détection de leur fluorescence.
France — L’UMET contribue à des capsules gazeuses sensibles au pH
Une collaboration associant Anne-Laure Fameau, au laboratoire UMET de Lille, décrit des capsules d’air entourées d’un film aqueux stabilisé par des particules de polystyrène greffées d’acide polyacrylique. Les capsules persistent en milieu acide ou neutre, tandis qu’un milieu alcalin déprotone les groupes acides de surface et provoque leur rupture avec libération du gaz. Leur durée de vie dépend également de l’évaporation du film liquide et augmente lorsque l’humidité ambiante est plus élevée. Les expériences montrent leur transfert entre l’eau et une surface solide sans rupture immédiate, ainsi qu’une libération du contenu commandée par l’environnement chimique.
Deux réseaux de GelMA dissocient renforcement mécanique et transport d’un composé modèle
Les travaux décrivent des hydrogels à doubles réseaux de gélatine méthacryloylée utilisant des degrés de substitution différents. Un premier réseau fortement substitué est photoréticulé, gonflé dans une solution de GelMA moins substituée, puis soumis à une seconde réticulation. Le réseau primaire gouverne principalement le renforcement mécanique, tandis que la composition du réseau secondaire module le gonflement, la dégradation et le transport de la curcumine employée comme composé modèle. Une densification de ce second réseau réduit le chargement et prolonge la libération. Des essais indirects sur fibroblastes complètent cette caractérisation in vitro.
La polarisation diélectrique explique la stabilisation des polarons dans le P3HT
Les chercheurs de l’Université d’État de Pennsylvanie modélisent les états fondamentaux et excités des polarons dans le poly(3-hexylthiophène), ou P3HT, au moyen d’un modèle de liaisons fortes stabilisé par l’environnement diélectrique et paramétré par des calculs de premiers principes. Les résultats reproduisent le déplacement d’un pic d’absorption dans l’infrarouge moyen avec la longueur de chaîne ainsi que les différences entre architectures régiorégulières et régioaléatoires. Le mécanisme alternatif fondé sur les seules distorsions locales des cycles donne des énergies incompatibles avec les observations comparées. Pour le P3HT étudié, la polarisation diélectrique relie ainsi la stabilisation des charges aux signatures spectroscopiques.

Une dépolymérisation en masse récupère le monomère de déchets de Plexiglas
Le communiqué de l’ETH Zurich du 22 octobre détaille une méthode publiée en septembre pour dépolymériser des polyméthacrylates commerciaux en masse. Des dérivés du N-hydroxyphthalimide provoquent un transfert d’atome d’hydrogène le long du squelette, suivi de coupures de chaîne et d’une dépolymérisation. Le procédé fonctionne sans solvant ni irradiation et ne nécessite pas de groupes terminaux spécialement introduits lors de la synthèse. Les chercheurs récupèrent du méthacrylate de méthyle par distillation à partir de déchets colorés de Plexiglas sans purification préalable.
