Le Genoscope identifie les microorganismes qui assimilent effectivement le carbone du PHB
Le Genoscope et ses partenaires combinent un marquage isotopique au carbone 13, la technique DNA-SIP et la métagénomique pour relier l’assimilation du carbone d’un poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) (PHB) à l’identité des microorganismes concernés.
Trois génomes reconstruits du genre Agarilytica contiennent respectivement 9, 11 et 14 copies de gènes codant des dépolymérases extracellulaires de PHA, alors qu’une à deux copies sont généralement décrites chez les bactéries dégradant ces polymères. L’analyse comparative met en évidence des duplications et des fusions de gènes.
Certaines enzymes prédites conservent les domaines structuraux attendus pour l’activité catalytique, mais n’ont pas encore été caractérisées biochimiquement.

La photolithographie de polymères moussants crée des motifs poreux à haute résolution
La méthode de deep-foam photolithography expose un film polymère photosensibilisé à une lumière UV-A qui provoque simultanément des coupures de chaînes et de la réticulation dans l’épaisseur.
L’introduction d’un solvant faible déclenche ensuite la nucléation et l’expansion de pores, puis leur effondrement viscoélastique contrôlé. Les auteurs obtiennent des motifs blancs ou en niveaux de gris sans encre et une résolution d’environ 20 000 points par pouce suffisante pour produire des couleurs diffractives.
Le procédé est appliqué à des films et des fibres de plusieurs polymères amorphes ou semi-cristallins et permet de modifier localement porosité, mouillabilité, propriétés optiques et épaisseur.

Le LCPO de Bordeaux fait le point sur la synthèse contrôlée et les architectures de polyproline
Rosanna Le Scouarnec et Colin Bonduelle, du Laboratoire de Chimie des Polymères Organiques — CNRS, Bordeaux INP et Université de Bordeaux — publient avec Josué M. Galindo et Andreas Heise une synthèse consacrée à la polyproline.
Les auteurs décrivent les développements récents de la polymérisation par ouverture de cycle du N-carboxyanhydride de proline permettant d’accéder à des chaînes de masses molaires et d’architectures contrôlées. La revue examine les conformations polyproline I et II, leurs transitions ainsi que le comportement thermoréactif de certaines architectures en solution aqueuse.
Elle couvre également la formation de nanostructures par auto-assemblage, ainsi que des hydrogels imprimables en trois dimensions, des nanoparticules, des matériaux membranaires et des bioconjugués contenant des segments polyproline.

La Gazette du LABORATOIRE consacre un article aux travaux de Marc Guerre au laboratoire Softmat — CNRS et Université de Toulouse — sur les réseaux polymères dynamiques de type vitrimeres.
Les recherches présentées utilisent des liaisons disulfure capables de générer, sous l’effet de la chaleur, des espèces radicalaires impliquées dans des réactions d’échange au sein du réseau polymère. Dans les systèmes décrits, de faibles proportions de fonctions disulfure permettent une reconfiguration du réseau lors d’un traitement thermique.
L’article présente également les activités de l’équipe P3R de Softmat en synthèse macromoléculaire, réseaux polymères dynamiques, caractérisation thermique et mécanique, ainsi que les travaux consacrés au recyclage et à la remise en forme de thermodurcissables.
