Un adhésif recyclable activé par la lumière visible et démontable au micro-ondes
Des chercheurs israéliens ont mis au point un nouvel adhésif polymère capable de polymériser rapidement sous lumière visible et de se désolidariser proprement au micro-ondes. Ce matériau, basé sur un dérivé de l’acide α-lipoïque, forme en 30 secondes un réseau réticulé solide via des liaisons disulfure dynamiques. Il adhère efficacement à une grande variété de substrats, y compris le verre, les plastiques, les métaux ou même des surfaces humides, tout en étant totalement dépourvu de solvants ou d’additifs toxiques. La réversibilité repose sur une rupture contrôlée des ponts disulfures par simple chauffage local micro-ondes (sans excéder 100 °C), permettant la récupération de plus de 90 % du matériau initial, sans perte de performance après plusieurs cycles. Doté d’un indice de réfraction élevé (n = 1,62) et d’une bonne transparence optique, ce polymère dynamique montre aussi un potentiel pour des usages biomédicaux avec des performances adhésives comparables aux colles chirurgicales.

Des fixations polymères en nylon 100 % recyclé pour l’infrastructure intelligente
TR Fasteners annonce une nouvelle gamme de fixations plastiques techniques fabriquées en nylon 100 % recyclé, avec une réduction de 90 % des émissions de CO₂ liées aux matières premières. Ces composants (clips, rivets, colonnettes filetées…) affichent des propriétés mécaniques équivalentes aux polymères vierges, validées par des essais de vieillissement thermique et de résistance. Destinés aux secteurs du câblage, des boîtiers de contrôle ou de l’eau, ils illustrent l’intégration industrielle du recyclage dans les polymères d’ingénierie.
Un revêtement polymère protège le fer contre la corrosion à 99,6 %
Une équipe de l’université hébraïque de Jérusalem a conçu un système bicouche alliant une monocouche auto-assemblée de carbène N-hétérocyclique (NHC) et une couche polymère réticulée, offrant une protection exceptionnelle contre la corrosion du fer. Le NHC agit comme un agent d’ancrage moléculaire greffé directement à la surface du métal via une liaison covalente, garantissant une adhésion optimale du revêtement polymère. Ce dernier forme une barrière stable et hydrophobe, résistante aux milieux salins et à l’oxydation. Les tests électrochimiques en solution NaCl montrent une réduction quasi totale du courant de corrosion et une intégrité structurelle intacte du polymère, même après des mesures de polarisation prolongées. Cette stratégie inspirée de la chimie de surface moléculaire permet de surpasser les performances des traitements conventionnels anticorrosion et ouvre la voie à des applications industrielles durables sur les aciers et fontes.

Des tubes flexibles allégés combinant réduction de plastique et polymères recyclés
Amcor et la marque de soins Bulldog ont collaboré pour alléger de 16,67 % l’épaisseur des parois de leurs tubes flexibles de 100 et 150 mL, sans compromis sur l’expérience utilisateur ni les performances mécaniques. Cette optimisation permet d’économiser environ 8,5 tonnes de plastique par an. En parallèle, la teneur en polymères recyclés post-consommation (PCR) dépasse désormais 62 %, complétée par du polyéthylène biosourcé issu de la canne à sucre. Cette double avancée illustre la capacité à conjuguer recyclabilité, contenu biosourcé et ingénierie des matériaux dans les emballages cosmétiques.
Des polymères fluorescents détectent le gaz sarin en une seconde
Des chercheurs de l’Académie des sciences de Chine ont développé un polymère organique poreux (DFDBA-POP) basé sur une structure de base de Schiff, dont la densité en sites de reconnaissance – les liaisons imines C=N – est finement contrôlée. En modulant la longueur des chaînes, ils ont ajusté à la fois la surface spécifique et la concentration de fonctions réactives, permettant une capture très efficace du DCP gazeux, simulant le gaz sarin. Ce matériau polymère répond en une seconde grâce à une forte efficacité de collision avec la cible, démontrant que l’ingénierie structurale du réseau conjugué et l’optimisation des densités fonctionnelles sont des leviers puissants pour créer des polymères capteurs sélectifs en phase gazeuse.

L’usage des plastiques en agriculture et agroalimentaire sous la loupe des scientifiques
Un collectif INRAE-CNRS a synthétisé plus de 4 500 publications pour dresser un panorama critique des usages, propriétés et impacts des plastiques dans l’agriculture et l’agroalimentaire. Les plastiques, largement utilisés pour l’emballage alimentaire et la conservation des fourrages, représentent 20 % des plastiques en France. Leur diversité chimique découle des exigences de performance (barrières aux gaz, tenue mécanique), engendrant des matériaux complexes souvent multicomposants. Leur recyclage reste limité, particulièrement pour les plastiques alimentaires, tandis que les plastiques dits biodégradables ne se décomposent que dans des conditions industrielles spécifiques. Les micro- et nanoplastiques issus de leur dégradation contaminent les sols, les cultures, la faune et l’organisme humain, où ils provoquent stress oxydatif, inflammation et perturbations endocriniennes. Les experts appellent à réduire la production plastique, à repenser les usages dans la chaîne de valeur agricole, et à mieux réglementer pour accompagner une transition soutenable.
