English version
The Institut Charles Sadron in Strasbourg offers a Master 2 internship on the synthesis of thermoresponsive comb polymers for biomedical applications, including drug delivery. These materials can undergo sharp temperature-induced changes in properties and display either LCST- or UCST-type behaviour in solution.
The intern will synthesize a library of comb polymers with well-defined side chains and investigate their thermoresponsive behaviour. Monomers will be prepared through liquid- and solid-phase synthesis, while the polymers will be obtained by ring-opening metathesis polymerization. Turbidimetry will be used to study the effects of side-chain structure and salts in aqueous solution.
The internship is intended for a motivated Master 2 student with a background in molecular chemistry. Training in polymer chemistry would be appreciated but is not required, together with a strong interest in an interdisciplinary project at the interface of synthesis and physical chemistry. Applications should include a CV, reference email addresses and a cover letter, sent to Delphine Chan-Seng at delphine.chan-seng@ics-cnrs.unistra.fr.
